Mechanical Engineer’s Day held in Naberezhnye Chelny

Mechanical engineering employees of Tatarstan make a worthy contribution to the development of the economy and strengthening of the country’s defence capability, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said today in Naberezhnye Chelny at an event dedicated to the Mechanical Engineer’s Day.

Rustam Minnikhanov greeted the participants of the event, noting that Tatarstan is an advanced industrial region, known throughout Russia and abroad. Today, there are over 3,000 mechanical engineering companies in the republic employing about 120,000 people. The Tatarstan President spoke about the history of the formation and development of mechanical engineering sector in Tatarstan.

Also, the President noted that this year, in spite of difficult conditions, Tatarstan manufacturers have demonstrated resilience and proved that mechanical engineering sector has a solid foundation in the republic. The enterprises kept jobs and continued to implement the projects they scheduled.

He emphasised that young people are diligently continuing the work started by the older generation. In the Mechanical Engineering skills, participants from Tatarstan won 4 medals (2 golds and 2 bronzes) as part of the Russian team at the 45th WorldSkills Competition. This year at the WorldSkills Russia competition, they confirmed their skills by winning 23 medals (9 golds, 7 silvers, and 7 bronzes).

President Minnikhanov congratulated all republic’s current and retired employees of the sector on their professional holiday and presented a number of Tatarstan awards.
