On July 27, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Albert Karimov, supported by representatives from the Tatarstan Ministry of Economy, the Tatarstan Ministry of Health, the Tatarstan Investment Development Agency, ZAO IPT Idea, SEZ Innopolis, and SEZ Alabuga, held a meeting to determine the prospects for the implementation of the project titled “Pharmapolis of the Republic of Tatarstan”.

Given the state of the republic’s pharmaceutical industry, one of the main drivers for its development, according to the Ministry, is involving pharmaceutical companies to Tatarstan as residents of sites with special business environment. In the brainstorming format, the participants discussed key issues of the project on creating a management system and allocating a special site for the placement of pharmaceutical facilities.

In follow-up to the meeting, it is expected that an action plan will be worked out by the republic’s ministries and organisations participating in the project.

The KAMAZ Forging Plant have completed a multi-stage project, which started more than a year ago as part of the diversification programme. Since March, the plant has been carrying out regular deliveries of two kinds of forged crankshafts to the Yaroslavl Motor Plant.

The initiative to produce crankshafts at the production facilities of KAMAZ was made by the Yaroslavl engine builders, with the reason being their own import substitution programme. Having reached an agreement with partners, forging plant experts proceeded to designing new products, creating design documentation, and starting preproduction engineering. A final stage of the work included the creation of a special section for machining crankshafts; now the forging plant has a full cycle of product development, including high-quality machining.

It is noteworthy that this large-scale project has been implemented without purchasing any additional equipment: they managed to unleash the potential of the machine tools already available at the plant. In addition, an ideal crankshaft balancing was achieved. Specifically for correcting imbalance in forgings, a computer programme has been developed at the plant. The discrepancy between the weight characteristics of the counterbalances is entered into it, computed, and the resulting information goes to a milling machine operator who completes the product.
