Reconstruction of 500 kV OS at Bugulma-500 Substation nearing completion

12 July 2017, Wednesday

As a result of the comprehensive reconstruction, which started in 2014, the most reliable power flows will be ensured between the Centre, the Middle Volga, and the Urals.

The 500-kV Bugulma Substation is one of the three largest substations in the Tatarstan power system that provides transit of electricity from the Middle Volga generation facilities (Volzhskaya HPP, Zhigulevskaya HPP, Zainskaya GRES) to the Urals through the 500-kV Beketovo Substation.

The large-scale renovation of expensive power and secondary equipment at the 500-kV outdoor switchgear was launched in 2014.

The old equipment is now entirely dismantled; construction and assembly operations are being completed for the further installation of a new one, which has been received from the manufacturers. Also, a work was carried out to dismantle the old and install new busbars. Glass insulators that are currently being installed have better parameters than the previous porcelain elements.

The final stage of the work is to be carried out in July, after which the territory will be landscaped: the project provides for planting of trees, bushes, and grass cover.
