The packaging industry around the world continues to evolve, but the increasingly growing environmental requirements to the production and use of packaging urge manufacturers to seek new solutions.

In this regard, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan, jointly with the KNRTU, held a Polymer Day on December 5 that was dedicated to the Russia’s polymer packaging market.

The Polymer Day was opened with a round table discussion, at which Director General of the National Packaging Confederation Aleksandr Boiko spoke about the conditions, trends, and prospects of the polymer packaging market and, on behalf of the NCPack, presented the 2016 Best Packaging Award to Danaflex.

Within the framework of the project rally, the participants to the event were presented design solutions of the KNRTU Institute of Polymers for packaging material manufacturers and learnt about state support measures for the implementation of investment projects and exports of products to foreign markets.

The event was also attended by manufacturers of basic polymers, such as Nizhnekamskneftekhim, Kazanorgsintez, and companies that produce packaging materials, such as Danaflex, SafPlast, the Kama Polymer Materials Plant, etc.

On December 5, the final session of the International Networking Applied Research Conference entitled “New Standards and Technologies of Engineering Education: University Opportunities and Needs of Petrochemical Sector (SYNERGY 2017)” was opened in the Kazan National Cultural Centre.

On the first day at the plenary session, its participants discussed new approaches in the training of sought-after specialists, innovations in engineering teaching and engineering education, upgrading the qualifications of engineering university teachers, ratings and quality of engineering education, as well as programmes of early engineering career guidance for schoolchildren within the “school-university-enterprise” paradigm.

In addition, a round table discussion was held on this day devoted to the development of the personnel potential in the Tatarstan’s petrochemical sector. It was attended by Director General of the Tatarstan Association of Enterprises and Industrialists Aleksey Pakhomov, Deputy General Director for Corporate Protection and Personnel Management of Gazprom Transgaz Kazan Marat Akhmetzyanov, Director General of Tatneftekhiminvest Holding Rafinat Yarullin, Acting Principal of KNRTU Sergey Yushko, and First Deputy Director of the Institute for Additional Professional Education under KNRTU Mansur Galikhanov.
